Low-Collateral Counter-sUAS
Small uncrewed aerial systems (sUAS) have forever changed military convention. The Ukraine conflict has shown their deadliness in combat, and ISR missions over bases, ports, and airfields in domestic settings are increasing daily and causing major disruption to force operations. Moreover, autonomous and wire-guided sUAS platforms are proving challenging to counter using conventional methods. New Counter-sUAS (C-sUAS) technologies are thus needed to counter the growing sUAS threat in both domestic and combat settings.
RedTail Technology has considered the various requirements needed to counter the growing threat of sUAS platforms, in both domestic and combat, on mounted and dismounted platforms, and against all sUAS platforms, including jam-proof, to deliver the ultimate C-sUAS capability. Two unique solutions have been developed to address this critical capability gap, the K2Dmini and the K3D.
The Katoomba™ K3D
NDAA-Compliant Dismounted C-sUAS Capability
The Katoomba™ K3D is an AI-integrated, platform-agnostic counter-sensor small directed energy weapon (sDEW) with added kill capability, featuring small size, weight, and power (SWaP), designed to provide last line of defence to dismounted soldiers against hostile sUAS platforms, including jam-proof systems.
The Katoomba™ K3D unique design enables:
Disrupt (dazzle) / Deny (blind) Effects, degrading hostile sUAS terminal guidance capability.
AI/ML Aim-Assist (patent pending), enabling precise engagement even when operated by fatigued soldiers under high cognitive load. AI/ML also discriminates against ‘No-Lase’ targets, preventing accidental lasing of prohibited objects.
Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) / Platform Agnostic, Picatinny Rail-mounted design for standalone, firearm attachment, or turreted deployment, enabling dismounted fireteam-level protection, and vehicle/location defence with remote operation via a common control system input.
Rapid Training for faster deployed capability, enabled by simple; three-button (ARM-FIRE-OVERIDE) operation, and firearm-style nature.
